Last Tuesday evening, a small but appreciative audience were delighted by very strong solo performances from Year 10, 11 and 12 Music students. Some of the students presented their assessment from Year 11 and 12 Music and Music Extension. All who were in the audience agreed that the standard of work was exemplary for so early in the year and that we could not wait to see what the students produce at Soiree 2 on May 19 (save the date if you want to treat yourself).
There was something in the program for everyone, from Black Sabbath to Broadway, from Classical to Contemporary. As though it wasn’t enough to be immersed in the language of Music; students, embraced singing in Italian, German and Spanish. Some students presented more than once. Riley Ducie, in the spirit of the Olympics would have won a gold medal for performing 5 times, all from memory and with expertise and excellence. All performers are to be congratulated because it is only through exposure to performance situations that confidence can be gained in presenting and the 25 students involved in the Soiree are well ahead of the game.
Music is alive and well at MSM with MusicFest 1 on 5 May and the first of the solo performance workshops for Years 7, 8 and 9 on Friday 8 May after school.
